Ya tenemos a nuestra completa disposición la versión 2.30 estable del popular entorno de escritorio GNOME para sistemas operativos Linux y derivados.
El equipo de desarrollo lo está celebrando por todo lo alto, incluso con estreno de una GNOME Store donde podrás hacerte con camisetas, tazas, termos, pósters y un montón de artículos relacionados con el proyecto. Las novedades de esta última versión son muchas, entre las que destacaremos las siguientes (extraído de Bitelia):
Ve más archivos con Nautilus dividiendo la ventana de navegación.
Más información sobre el estado de tus conversaciones con el cliente de mensajería instantánea multiprotocolo (¡uf!) Emphaty y mejoras en la funcionalidad con canales IRC y chat con Facebook.
Mejoras en el rendimiento de Tomboy, tanto en su arranque (sus usuarios lo conocemos por ineficiente y a veces optamos por Gnote), como en la sincronización de notas. También podrá integrarse de mejor manera con Windows 7 (D’oh!).
Mejoras en la seguridad y facilidad de administración de cuentas de usuario.
Mejoras en el applet para rastrear el tiempo que inviertes en tus actividades.
Muchas mejoras en el navegador web Epiphany.
Y muchas más mejoras para usuarios y administradores que puedes revisar con detalle en las release notes oficiales de esta versión.
Sin duda un buen trabajo de los chicos de GNOME. Aunque está mal visto tomar una taza de chocolate pensando en la siguiente, les recuerdo que la versión 3.0 del entorno de escritorio está programada para dentro de seis meses, y teniendo en cuenta la eficacia y puntualidad del equipo de desarrollo no dudo que cumplan.

Sunday I put on a crock pot of stew (Yummy!) Cleaned out the garage, and put up the Christmas lights outside. We had to do it before it gets too cold and the snow starts to fly. The first year of marriage we put Christmas lights up when it was minus 10 degrees out – it did not go well, and promised to never do that again. We are much nicer to each other when it is warm
